Trial For Uploading Daily Photo Submissions20 viewsThis survey is in two parts:
A. Allow members to add initials or "nom de plume" on photos they submit?
Pros
Allows reviewers to know whose photo they are reviewing so they can tailor their review to the individual
Further protection from Copyright Infringement
Cons
Reviewers pick and choose photo to review based on user not material or quality of the photos submitted
Promotes "cheating"
B. Member must (mandatory) add information to submission so that reviewer can tailor review response.
Example: Camera - Sony Alpha DSLR A-100 - Lenses (50mm) (18-200mm) (75-300) Software - (PSP) (PP) (CS) -
Objective - To advance my photography/editing skills to the highest level possible. Seeking detailed and comprehensive reviews Scoring is insignificant!
This information would simply be copied and pasted to each submission. Can be more information and also may contain a statement that a person is not interested in receiving detailed technical evaluations. Note: A lot of members have quit because of this.
Survey Question:
Implement Part A on a trial basis through January 15, 2008 (Y/N)
Implement Part B on a trial basis through January 15, 2008 (Y/N)
Please give me response by November 15, 2007

POTW Photo Elgibility - Open Through 09/16/0714 viewsThe POTW is selected from photos uploaded to APOW. The weekly period begins on Monday and ends on Saturday of each week. Reviews on photos for the week are calculated on the following Tuesday thus allowing time for members to review the photos submitted later in the week.
The question -
Should any photo uploaded for review be eligible for POTW ?
Should photos have to be taken within a specific time frame, i.e. the previous week, month, year, etc. to be eligible for POTW? If yes, what should this time frame be?
Obviously the intent here is to get people to take and submit new photos and not go back to their archives and pick old photos that might have been submitted to other sites.Sep 12, 2007

Techniques28 viewsFor weeks I have been working on new ideas and concepts to provide you with different venues and ideas with the goal in mind to challenge everyone and to make us all better. I have been introducing these on a periodic basis so as not to overwhelm you! “Damned be to he who first cries, hold enough” (How am I doing Jenny?) One of the new galleries I have in mind, which I have been keeping in the wings is called “Member Techniques”
Here is how it would work!
A member submits a photo to the Gallery
They explain the technique they used to create the shot from camera setup to editing.
They explain in as much detail as possible and particularly as exactly as possible how they did it, and the editing software they used.
This could be a lesson, like the ROT lesson in the photo I submitted today (tee hee)
It could be a special application like AndreyG’s B&W layer technique.
The member would submit the photo and describe what and how they did it.
Members would ask questions in the comment section of the Gallery.
Submitting Member would be required to respond to questions and offer advice.
No photos would be submitted other than the original member submission.
There would be no ratings on the photo submitted by the originator.
In their comments reviewing members could elaborate their opinions.
When each submission is closed the rating system could be turned to rate the value of the information.
When submission is closed it would reside in a closed Gallery for further review by existing and new members for reference.
Since I am currently in the process of learning CS2, I have compiled several applications that help me immensely. The links to these, or my descriptions on how to use could be shared by others. The bottom line is that this could be a repository of valuable information designed to help all members in their quest to become better photographers, It would all be in one place!
My quest is to provide our members with a venue to become better photographers! Healthy competition would be come more significant if the playing field were leveled.
Your opinions please! I will setup a survey in the gallery to respond. This information will be included. The Survey will be titled ? Member Techniques.”
